Fine Arts Professors Win Graphic Design Awards
Congratulations to Rozina Vavetsi, associate professor of fine arts (pictured left), and Patty Wongpakdee, assistant professor of fine arts (pictured right), who have been awarded certificates of excellence as winners of the 2013 Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) Inhouse Design Awards, the largest showcase for outstanding work by inhouse designers. Vavetsi was recognized for her poster, "In Brands We Trust," and Wongpakdee for her designs for the American Cancer Society's Financial Services Cares and Birthday Bash. Examples of the projects will be featured on GDUSA's iPad app as well as its online and printed annual reports distributed to a national audience at trade shows and events throughout the year.

East Coast Conference Honors Elaine Brown
Elaine Brown, Ph.D., English Professor and Department Chair, NYIT’s Old Westbury campus, and newly appointed NYIT Faculty Athletic Representative was one of several faculty members honored with the East Coast Conference (ECC) Faculty Appreciation Award at their annual banquet held on May 22nd at NYIT de Seversky Mansion. The award recognizes instructors and/or administrators nominated by member institutions for having an impact on athletic programs and student-athletes. Read more.May 22 2013
Assia Lakhlif’s film at Cannes
Assia Lakhlif, adjunct film professor of communication arts, wrote and directed the dramatic narrative film, Daughter, which is part of the short film section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
