Tech Expert Shares Advice for Mac Users

Axios interviewed the College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (NYITCOM) Senior Director of Academic Technologies, Dost Khalique, for an article about the new Apple Mac mini. The article, which comes on the heels of NYITCOM being named an Apple Distinguished School, notes that the new design is driven by users’ preference to leave their Mac devices on. However, as Khalique explains, restarting the computer is essential for maintaining performance, stability, and security, as some malware will remain in memory until a reboot. He also noted that, while some users may find the button’s new location temporarily inconvenient, they will adjust quickly, much like they have to past Apple design changes.

“It’s kind of like the iPhone [being made without] the home button, where eventually they figured out that you don’t really need a home button, and you can use your face, or you swipe up,” he said.
