Celebrate Black History Month 2025

February is Black History Month. Throughout the month, New York Institute of Technology will celebrate by hosting a series of events. The university also recognizes our Black alumni, students, and faculty who are doing great things in their professional and academic careers as well as in their communities.

LI Black ’N Brunch

February 6
12:30 – 2 p.m.
Student Activities Center (SAC), Bears Den, Long Island
To kick off Black History Month, come and hear what the Black Student Union (BSU) has planned for the month. In addition, there will be food and games for everyone to enjoy.

NYC Black History Month Trivia

February 6
12:45 – 2 p.m.
26 W. 61st St., first-floor lounge, New York City
Celebrate Black History Month with a luncheon and trivia game. Food will be served. Register on CampusGroups.

LI Black History Month Jeopardy

February 11
12:30 – 2 p.m.
Anna Rubin Hall, Room 316, Long Island
As a continuation to Black History Month, students will be educated in Black history. There will also be a game for students to enjoy with potential prizes.

NYC Let’s Discuss: Black Mental Health

February 18
12:30 – 2 p.m.
Student Activities Center, Rear Lounge (behind Metro Café), 1849 Broadway, New York City
Join the African Student Alliance and Behavioral Science Club as they have conversations around mental health within the Black community. They will have an open dialogue about stereotypes, misconceptions, personal experiences, and more.

Black History Month Gala: Golden Hour, Illuminating Black Excellence
February 28
6 – 10 p.m.
Leonard’s Palazzo, 555 Northern Blvd., Great Neck

Celebrate Black History Month and Black excellence at the annual Black History Month Gala. The evening will feature Black culture with live music and a DJ, food, and plenty of dancing. Tickets are $25 per student. Each student can also purchase a guest ticket for $30. Limited transportation from New York City is available. This event is sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and co-hosted with the NYC National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the NYC Black Student Union, the LI National Society of Black Engineers, the LI Black Student Union, and the NYC African Student Alliance.
