Yusupov Shares Guidance on Ozempic Side Effects
First for Women has featured College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) Assistant Professor Eleanor Yusupov, D.O., in an article about the possible side effects of the weight loss medication semaglutide. Also known as GLP-1 and by the brand name Ozempic, semaglutide helps patients quickly drop pounds—but some suffer from mild to severe complications like gastrointestinal symptoms, nausea, and dehydration. Recently, comedian Amy Schumer reported that the medication left her bedridden but, as Yusupov notes, most patients do not encounter this issue.
“Severe negative side effects are rare,” says Yusupov, an obesity medicine physician. “[But] if symptoms persist despite dietary and lifestyle modifications or become severe, medication needs to be stopped.”
Similar coverage was also featured in nearly two dozen other news outlets, including Yahoo Life, Fresno Bee, and Kansas City Star.
