Maimonides Health Department of Psychiatry is providing a longitudinal experience for third and fourth year medical students from NYITCOM interested in pursuing residency training in psychiatry who want to learn basic skills in research and quality improvement. Research electives for medical students interested in psychiatry provide a valuable opportunity to delve into the world of mental health research, contributing to both personal and professional development. The experience typically spans 6 months to 1 year, allowing students to engage in meaningful projects over a period of time. The commitment is expected to be 1-2 hrs per week on average, with the understanding that based on the student’s core rotations as well as the stage of the project, the availability and commitment might vary over time.
