News Byte: Amanda Golden Receives NEH Summer Stipend

Associate Professor of English Amanda Golden, Ph.D., is among 103 faculty scholars to receive a 2022 National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) summer stipend. Golden, the first New York Tech faculty member to receive an NEH summer stipend, was awarded the $6,000 grant to research and write an expanded, annotated edition of the collected poems of American author Sylvia Plath for a period of two months.

“NEH is proud to support these exemplary education, media, preservation, research, and infrastructure projects,” said NEH Chair Shelly C. Lowe (Navajo) in an April 13 announcement of NEH funding for 245 humanities projects across the country. “These projects will expand the horizons of our knowledge of culture and history, lift up humanities organizations working to preserve and tell the stories of local and global communities, and bring high-quality public programs and educational resources directly to the American public.”

Created in 1965 as an independent federal agency, it supports research and learning in history, literature, philosophy, and other areas of the humanities by funding selected, peer-reviewed proposals from around the nation.
