News Byte: New York Tech ‘Saluted’ as a Military Friendly School

The results are in—New York Institute of Technology has been named a Military Friendly® School for 2020-2021. 

Military Friendly® Schools are recognized for their efforts to help veterans transition from the military to the classroom and ultimately secure successful careers in the civilian world. The annual survey is issued by veteran-owned Viqtory Media, and is the longest-running, most comprehensive evaluation of U.S. college and university investments to serve military and veteran students. This year, 1,693 post-secondary schools completed the survey, with 695 earning Military Friendly® designation. Survey methodology is published online at militaryfriendly.com.

More than 150 veterans are currently enrolled at New York Tech, which participates in the Yellow Ribbon program and Troops to Teachers; provides financial aid, prior learning credits, and exclusive events/priority registration specifically for veterans; and offers additional services through the Office of Military and Veteran Affairs. In addition, the New York Tech Student Veteran Organization provides peer-to-peer support for fellow veteran-related events.

“This is an incredible honor,” said Frank Rivera, M.S., director of military and veteran affairs, who, at NATCON 2020, was named a finalist for Student Veterans Adviser Chapter Advisor of the Year. “We look forward to continuing to build a campus community that promotes support, camaraderie, and access to opportunity for those who served our country.”

New York Tech was also recognized by Military Times as a Best for Vets College for 2020.
