NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences is pleased to welcome Joseph S. Lopes, senior principal consultant, DNV GL. Lopes will present on “Disrupting the Energy Grid: How Solar Roofs, Electric Vehicles and Learning Thermostats Will Disrupt the Traditional Operation of the Electric Grid.”

Lopes has over 40 years of experience serving the needs of the electric and gas utility industry. His work has included energy program design, implementation and evaluation for utility residential and business programs, regulatory issues, load research analysis and systems design, demand response (DR) program implementation and evaluation (specializing in smart thermostat programs), multifamily programs, innovative pricing pilot studies, and integrated resource plans. Before joining DNV GL in 2011, Lopes was a founding partner of Applied Energy Group, Inc. (CFO for over 25 years). He holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Manhattan College and an M.S. in Energy Management from New York Tech.
