Architect Speaks on Preservation of Aluminaire House
CBS Sunday Morning interviewed Associate Professor of Architecture Frances Campani, M.Arch., for a segment detailing the storied history of Aluminaire House. First debuted at the Architectural and Allied Arts Exposition in 1931, the icon of modernist design was eventually purchased and moved to New York Tech’s Central Islip campus in 1988. Now, the building is at home in the Palm Springs Art Museum’s permanent collection.
“For a long time we were in limbo,” Campani says of the house’s previous uncertain fate. But with its newfound residence at the museum she states, “We’re very, very relieved.”
