Cardiovascular Researcher Recognized
Physiologist Mag, a news publication by the American Physiological Society, featured NYITCOM-Arkansas Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences Viswanathan (Vishwa) Rajagopalan, Ph.D., in an article about translational research. Rajagopalan, whose research aims to develop new cardiovascular therapies, began his career as a physician’s assistant at India’s premier tertiary care cardiovascular institute. Here he witnessed challenging, unanswered heart health questions, which led him to study cardiomyopathy, right ventricular function and failure, anticancer chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity, and the impact of endocrine hormones on heart health. At NYITCOM, he is currently researching noncoding RNA’s role in cardiovascular, thyroid, and associated disorders.
