Expert Discusses Beverages and Weight Loss
Clinical Associate Professor and Chair for the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Mindy Haar, Ph.D., RDN, was featured in a LoseIt! article about beverages that support weight loss goals. Haar shares insight into some of the drinks logged most frequently by the app’s users, including unsweetened vs. regular almond milk and coffee.
“For many, a hot or iced cup of coffee is associated with taking a break from a busy day or relaxing in the evening,” she says, noting that this moment of mindfulness allows you to become more aware of your surroundings, hunger signals, and food intake. However, she cautions that people should limit the sugar added to coffee to one or two teaspoons.
