GQ has quoted Alexander Rothstein, Ed.D., coordinator and instructor for the Exercise Science, B.S. program, in an article emphasizing the importance and benefits of flexibility—the ability to move through a joint’s full range of motion. Having optimal flexibility throughout the body assists in maintaining good posture and protects muscles from injury, among other advantages.

“[Flexibility] really allows the muscles and joints to function optimally without restriction,” says Rothstein, “If you can’t move the way you need to, it can cause overuse to another part of the body, which can lead to injury.”
