Nadler Comments on Forever Chemicals at Superfund Site
A Newsday article reports that an environmental consultant has filed plans with the state Department of Environmental Conservation to study the extent of PFAS (or forever) chemicals in the soil and groundwater at Long Island MacArthur Airport. The investigation would determine the extent of contamination as well as any potential impacts.
“I find it interesting that PFAS was detected in stormwater and at a high concentration when compared to the drinking water levels,” said Research Assistant Professor David Nadler, Ph.D., who was asked by Newsday to provide expert insight on the report. “It alludes to the fact that there is PFAS on the ground surface and easily washed away.”
