Vancouver, Canada – Since NYIT student Ravi Muti rocked his career path by studying entrepreneurship instead of accounting, he has never looked back. With a newly incorporated start-up business under his belt, he has set his sights on developing ventures that will ultimately contribute to the greater good of society.

Muti, a member of the NYIT-Vancouver MBA Class of 2012 and a former volunteer at his neighborhood's community patrol, received a Surrey (British Columbia) Board of Trade Top 25 Under 25 award for his commitment to the community and notable achievements as a role model for young business professionals.

"Entrepreneurship is exciting and I have a passion for it because it brings out my creativity and an innovative mindset," said Muti, who accepted his award during a ceremony this week. He added that his flexible class schedule allowed him to focus on "classwork that presented real life situations" that he could apply to his business.

The young entrepreneur's start-up, R.S. Muti Group LLP, operates in the fields of business mobile marketing, online marketing for schools, financial technology, social media platforms, and real estate. The company works with local and global businesses to market to their customer bases through online, real-time and mobile marketing applications. At age 25, Muti has already landed his first sale of a mobile marketing product.

"Simply managing these companies while studying in such a demanding program is a notable achievement in itself," said NYIT-Vancouver Campus Dean Julia Saurazas, who nominated Muti for the award based on his ability to garner the respect of colleagues through "innate wisdom beyond his years and an understanding of managing people."

She added that Muti first began to approach local companies while completing the final semester of his MBA studies, rapidly demonstrating a knack for bringing the right types of people together to form his ventures—those who not only have complementary skills, but who could also work together effectively. Those skills served him well in leading the university's debate team, assisting with the university's stakeholder's conference, and serving as a mentor to international students at NYIT-Vancouver.

"I hope to become an influential entrepreneur who does things that have never been done—nothing more, nothing less, and I'll keep going until this is accomplished," Muti said.
