Old Westbury, NY – New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) ranks among the Best Colleges for Veterans according to U.S. News & World Report's inaugural ranking.

NYIT is recognized in the top tier of regional universities in the North. U.S. News & World Report's 2014 Best Colleges for Veterans rankings are intended to help veterans pursue a college education under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. The new rankings provide data and information on schools that offer federal benefits, including tuition and housing assistance, to veterans and active service members.

NYIT has staff dedicated to assist veteran students with admissions, military credit evaluation, financial aid, payments, and more. It also provides opportunities for veterans to be active on its Manhattan and Long Island campuses through the NYIT Veterans Club, organizing events, fundraisers, and forums to share their personal experiences. Additionally, NYIT offers a variety of degree programs at multiple campuses, internships, experiential learning, and career-focused education, as well as experienced career services professionals to provide career assistance and actively pursue job opportunities for each student, among other programs for veterans. NYIT was also named a "Military Friendly School" in 2013 and 2014 by Victory Media.

All of the 234 ranked schools scored well in terms of graduation rate, faculty resources, reputation and other markers of academic quality in the 2014 edition of the U.S. News Best Colleges. To qualify for the new rankings, the schools had to be certified for the GI Bill® and participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program and Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium.
