Seasoned Integrated Communications Executive Joins NYIT

September 3, 2013

New York, NY – New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), a leading global university, has engaged seasoned communications executive Nancy Donner as Vice President of Communications and Marketing to lead its integrated marketing efforts. At NYIT, Donner will oversee advertising, design, editorial services, digital communications, online media, event planning, publications, and public relations, among other components of the university's marketing mix. NYIT educates more than 13,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to become physicians, architects, scientists, engineers, and business leaders.

"I was drawn to this educational institution, which offers such a rich complement of academic offerings for the 21st-century student looking to be a smart citizen of the world," said Donner. "And NYIT's New York campuses in Manhattan and Old Westbury—not to mention China, Canada, and the Middle East—bring such rich marketing opportunities that the challenge to elevate this brand both locally and globally was irresistible."

A native New Yorker, Donner has spent the better part of her 25-year career working to promote education, culture, and organizations devoted to the social good. While at the helm of The New School's marketing and communications team for seven years, she led efforts to amplify the university's brand, improve its reputation, and utilize new digital, broadcast, and social media tools to reach both the widest and the most targeted audiences.

Donner came to The New School from The New York Public Library, where she was Vice President for Communications and Marketing. In that capacity, she oversaw all public and media relations, internal and external communications, graphic design, and promotional aspects of one of the world's largest not-for-profit institutions. During her 12 years at the library, she successfully developed its brand and messaging platform; marketed the library to targeted stakeholders; and created comprehensive promotional strategies to increase earned income opportunities, visitor attendance, and public awareness of exhibitions, programs, and services.

"Nancy's strategic vision and ability to elevate and reinforce branding strategies, and promote organizations through integrated channels and focused tactics will serve NYIT well," said President Edward Guiliano. "She is a welcome addition to our leadership team."

Donner, a Brown University graduate, has also served as a consultant, for foundations, think tanks, and educational organizations, including, most recently, The Ford Foundation.
