NYIT Hosts Third Engineering and Technology Showcase Competition for High School Students
April 30, 2014
Now in its third year, NYIT attracted more student teams to its annual competition for high school students to showcase and exhibit their ongoing projects based on science and/or engineering principles than in the competition's first two years combined. Yesterday, 20 co-ed or all-female teams vied in this competition, hailing from Brentwood High School, Commack High School, John F. Kennedy High School Plainview-Old Bethpage, and Manhasset High School.

NYIT Anatomy Professors Awarded NSF Grant for Evolutionary Studies

The National Science Foundation has awarded a $220,000 research grant to NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine anatomy professors Jonathan Geisler, Ph.D. and Brian Beatty, Ph.D. for an extensive investigation into the evolution and development of whale, dolphin, and porpoise skulls.

The workshop is being held in conjunction with a U.S.-China EcoPartnership Conference on April 17, The Water-Energy Nexus: Sustainability and Global Challenges, organized by NYIT and Peking University.

As a milestone of their U.S.-China EcoPartnership, New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and Peking University are organizing a conference addressing "The Water-Energy Nexus: Sustainability and Global Challenges" in Beijing on April 17, under the leadership of Nada Marie Anid, Ph.D., dean of NYIT's School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, and Chunmiao Zheng, director of the Center For Water Research at Peking University.

NYIT Hosts First Global Cybersecurity Conference in Abu Dhabi

NYIT held its first Global Cybersecurity Conference here today, which was inaugurated by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, U.A.E. Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development. NYIT's conference welcomed cyber defense professionals, information technologists, banking and finance executives, and others across these fields from the U.S., China, the United Arab Emirates and throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

President Guiliano Represents NYIT at Exclusive Celebration for the "Mother of the Emirates"

NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., was among a select group of government and community leaders who gathered last night at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi to honor the "Mother of the Emirates," Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak. In a brief speech, President Guiliano discussed the values of education and striving for excellence that NYIT shares with HH Sheikha Fatima, a global leader in women's education.

Cheers, fist pumps, and hugs filled a ballroom at NYIT de Seversky Mansion at Match Day as more than 100 excited College of Osteopathic Medicine students learned where they will spend the next three or four years as residents in local and regional hospitals.
