Medical Humanities Minor

Our Medical Humanities minor is a great way to diversify your education and boost your professional appeal to healthcare employers. It also provides a key differentiator if you are considering graduate and post-graduate degrees in healthcare or medicine.

In this 15-credit program, you’ll discover that the foundation of healthcare is about human contact: empathy, communication, observation, and analysis. You’ll promote your cultural competency and enhance your ability to communicate with patients.

You’ll also examine:

  • issues of personhood as they pertain to healthcare
  • disabilities and illness, including their emotional and psychological impact
  • the history and social context of medical practice across literature, philosophy, ethics, anthropology, psychology, and sociology

To add this minor:

  • Fill out and sign the application form.
  • Email the signed copy to Dr. Jennifer Griffiths at jgriff02@nyit.edu.
  • Bring the completed form to the Office of the Registrar.
