Entrepreneurship & Technology Innovation Center for Industry-University Partnerships at NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences
Structured around a collaborative network of industry-university partnerships, connecting industry and academia, innovators and entrepreneurs, the Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC) is a catalyst for technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development. The ETIC focuses on three technological drivers of economic growth in the New York metropolitan region:
- Information & Cybersecurity
- Energy & Green Technologies
- Bio-Engineering and Health Analytics
The Center pools together faculty, student and industry talent and resources while creating synergies through NYIT’s regional and global networks that foster knowledge sharing and innovation. The ETIC is creating a paradigm shift in the way education is tied to economic growth and it enhances existing programs at NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences by leveraging the combined expertise of industry and the school’s faculty and infusing modern engineering tools and inventions in the classroom. Its principal role is to be a conduit for strategic partnerships and curricular innovation between industry on the one hand, and academia on the other hand.
The Empire State Development Corporation has provided seed funding for this transformative initiative, which is supported by the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council. An Advisory Board made up of members of industry, government, and the venture capital community, has agreed to help NYIT create the Center and work on its three focus areas create a high-tech teaching and research environment that meets industry workforce demands and projections.
