This page consists of step-by-step information on admission to a master's degree program at one of New York Tech's New York campuses. View a list of our program offerings. Please make sure you are fully aware of all the steps involved in the admissions process. Please ensure that applicants you are assisting have in-depth knowledge about the program they are applying to before submitting an application.


Intakes & Deadlines

New York Tech offers two intakes per year: Fall (September) and Spring (January). Fall and spring are regular 15-week terms.

Undergraduate

  • Spring Intake: Dec. 1
  • Fall Intake: July 1

The following programs have separate deadlines:

  • Nursing, B.S. (Transfer Students Only): Nov. 1 for the spring semester and March 1 for the fall semester
  • Combined Life Sciences, B.S. / Physical Therapy, D.P.T.: Feb. 1
  • Architecture, B.Arch.: Feb. 15. The admissions committee will continue to review applications until the program reaches capacity.

Graduate

Regular Admission: International students are encouraged to apply for all master's programs by July 1 for fall admission or December 15 for spring admission. Applications received after these dates will still be processed, but students may run out of time to apply for F1 student visas. Applications are reviewed on a rolling admission basis, as long as space is available. The following specific programs have separate deadlines:

  • Architecture, M.Arch.: Jan. 15 for fall start; late applications will be reviewed as space allows
  • Architecture, Computational Technologies, M.S.: Jan. 15 (fall start); late applications will be reviewed as space allows
  • Architecture, Health and Design, M.S.: Jan. 15 (fall start); late applications will be reviewed as space allows
  • Architecture, Urban Design, M.S.: Jan. 15 (fall start); late applications will be reviewed as space allows
  • Occupational Therapy, OTD: Oct. 1 (Priority Deadline for May start), Feb. 21 (extended deadline)
  • Occupational Therapy, M.S.: Oct. 1 (Priority Deadline for May start), Feb. 21 (extended deadline)
  • Physical Therapy, D.P.T.: Oct. 15 (Soft Deadline) or Dec. 15 (Firm Deadline) (summer start)
  • Physician Assistant Studies, M.S.: Dec. 1 (fall start)

How to Submit an Application

Complete the New York Tech Online Application.

Please make sure to follow the steps as suggested and provide all required application documents, otherwise the submitted application may be “incomplete” which may cause a delay in application processing and review.


How to Check Application Status of Applicants

Once your application submission is 100%, you can log into the Admissions Portal to check the status of application submitted and view decision letters.


When do students find out if they are admitted to New York Tech?

Once a student is admitted to a program, he/she will receive an e-mail stating an update to the application has been made, and to log into the Admissions Portal to check application status. Students must either “accept” or “reject” the admission offer. If the student accepts the offer, he/she must electronically sign the offer. He/she will also be able to download the tuition breakdown.

Note: Only the applicant to the program is authorized to “accept” or “reject” the admission offer. If a third party (agent) is found to have signed this document, they will be held accountable for this action.

Committing to New York Tech

Once the student receives an admission decision letter, he/she must submit the enrollment deposit. The enrollment deposit amount is provided in the decision letter. The link with instructions on how to pay the enrollment deposit is also included in the decision letter.


How to Pay Tuition Deposit

All initial enrollment deposits must be paid through Flywire or TransferMate, the payment platforms in which New York Tech has partnered with to provide our international students with an easy, convenient, and secure method to send international payments in your home currency or by using an international credit card.

It takes about 10 to 15 business days for payment to be received by New York Tech and posted to student’s account.


How to confirm and retrieve the official receipt for your deposit payment?

Once the deposit payment is submitted and received by New York Tech and posted to the student account, the student will be able to retrieve the official receipt. Students should follow the below instructions to set up the Student Service HUB to get a receipt:

  1. Go to: my.nyit.edu and select "First-Time Users and Password Reset." Enter your New York Tech ID number and last name as they appear on your acceptance letter.
  2. Enter the security code exactly as it appears and submit.
  3. Provide answers to the security questions.
  4. Follow the instructions to set your secret questions and answers. Create your new password. Please read the password instructions carefully to create a secure password containing the required characters.
  5. Once you have set up your username and password, you will also have to enroll in Okta Single Sign-On (SSO). View instructions to set up your Okta account.
  6. Click on “My Student Account” and then "My Account” which will take you to Transact Payments (CASHNet) system.
  7. Click on “Transactions” to find your payment transaction and download the official receipt of your payment.

What are the next steps after the student has been admitted?

In order to receive detailed instructions about the next steps after an applicant has been admitted, please advise them to review the Admissions Portal and follow the steps. The portal provides detailed information about the enrollment deposit, the I-20/visa process, new student orientation, course registration, insurance, arrival to New York, and other student service-related matters.


Deferral Policy

Admitted students will only be allowed to defer the start of their academic program for up to two academic terms from their initial term of admission.

Admitted for Fall Term: Students must begin their program by the following spring
Admitted for Spring Term: Students must begin their program by the following fall

Students who do not begin their studies within this period and wish to attend New York Tech at a later term will have to reapply to the university.


How can you apply to become a new authorized agent?

New York Tech greatly values the partnerships with its agents. If you are interested in applying to become a new agent, please complete the Agency Application.

Approval and renewal decisions of agency contracts are made based on the following factors:

  • Agent's recruitment ability of quality students
  • Student diversity
  • New York Tech's current regional marketing strategy
  • Agent's professionalism and ethics
  • Minimum three references provided by U.S. educational institutions the agent is working with currently.

 


How to claim commission for enrolled students?

Current contracted agents can claim commission after their students have met the following requirements. First, students must be enrolled full-time.  International Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 9 academic credits and International Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 academic credits to be considered a full-time student.  Second, students must have an agency code tagged in their application. Third, the student must have paid their full tuition balance for the semester. Please email the company’s invoice to international@nyit.edu. Please make sure to include the following information on the invoice:

  • Company’s name and contact info
  • Enrolled student’s full name
  • Student ID
  • Enrolled program name and term
  • Total commission amount based on the agency contract.

Note: For security reasons, please do not include your bank account details on the invoice. If we do not have your account info on record, we will contact you to obtain the details.

We will start verifying and processing invoices after the registration period (add/drop) ends (normally 2 weeks after class start date). We will send agent partners a list of their enrolled students and will let the agent know which students can and cannot be invoiced.

Please note, it is the agent's responsibility to track their students' enrollment statuses and claim commission within the first term.


Agency Code of Conduct

Agents will take full responsibility in recruiting qualified candidates to apply for admission. All International students referred to New York Tech from agents must have proof that the application was submitted by that specific agent. Applications submitted online through the New York Tech website will have a special agent code assigned to the agent. New York Tech has sole discretion over academic student admissions standards and admissions decisions for particular applicants. All inquiries regarding student application statuses must be directed to the International Admissions office of New York Tech at international@nyit.edu. The Office of Admissions is responsible for granting admission to New York Tech. Admission criteria and required application documents are outlined in the university catalog and on our website.

Term and Termination of the Agreement

A. The Term of the agreement will commence on the date hereof and continue for two years thereafter, provided that either party will have the right to terminate the agreement 1) upon 30 days’ notice to the other party if the other party is in material breach of the Agreement and does not cure the breach within the 30 days, or 2) at any time and for any reason upon three months written notice to the other party.

Use of sub-agents

In the event that the AGENT uses any sub-agents in connection with the performance of its services hereunder, AGENT will inform the subagents of all of the requirements of this agreement and AGENT will be responsible for all actions or misrepresentation of its subagents. Upon the request of New York Tech, AGENT will provide New York Tech with a list of all sub-agents engaged by AGENT.


Marketing materials to download

All marketing materials and correspondence used by agents for recruitment activities must be approved in advance by New York Tech. The agent warrants that they will comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Policy regarding submission of fraudulent academic documents by an applicant

Students found to have submitted fraudulent academic documents, such as transcripts, for the purpose of admission to New York Tech, may have their admission rescinded, and may be disciplined or expelled upon confirming that the documents submitted were fraudulent. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the documents submitted during the application process are not fraudulent. If fraudulent documents are submitted by the agent on behalf of the student, the agent may be disciplined and/or have their agreement terminated within 30 days of the discovery of the fraudulent documents.


Policy on mis-representation of degree programs offered at New York Tech

It is the responsibility of the agent to make sure their students clearly understand the program he/she has been admitted to at New York Tech. Students must also have a clear understanding of the curriculum structure of the program they have been admitted to at New York Tech.
