NYIT Researchers Find Thyroid Hormones Help Heart Condition in Rats

Thyroid hormone treatment administered to rats at the time of a heart attack (myocardial infarction) led to significant reduction in the loss of heart muscle cells and improvement in heart function, according to a study published by a team of researchers led by A. Martin Gerdes and Yue-Feng Chen from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.

NYIT Professor Awarded Grant to Research Mobile Device and Wireless Network Security

NYIT has received a prestigious three-year National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to establish a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site to conduct research on the security of mobile devices and wireless networks. The award, the first NSF REU grant that NYIT has received, totals approximately $360,000 and applies to the three-year period of April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2016.

Cybersecurity Expert: Hacking Case Good Reminder to Enhance Protections

NYIT School of Engineering Awarded Prestigious Research Grant

NYIT announced that Kiran Balagani, Ph.D., assistant professor in its School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, is the most recent faculty member to be awarded a prestigious research grant. Dr. Balagani is principal investigator on a project called "Investigating Cognitive Rhythms as a New Modality for Continuous Authentication." The three-university team he is leading has been granted nearly $500,000 by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
