CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machines

A CNC machine is a computer numerically-controlled machine that operates from a computer-generated tool-path. It is capable of cutting a range of hard materials, such as wood, foams, and plastics. The machine uses a rotating bits to remove material from a defined stock material and is capable of cutting the the X, Y, and Z directions. The machine is appropriate for cutting 1:1 scale prototype parts such as, furniture and facade panels, or smaller parts for models. The machine is a good solution for cutting curved and doubly curved surface geometry and 2-D shapes and parts.

Submitting work

  • Download and use the appropriate machine template
  • Save your files as follows: LastnameFirst_FileName.3dm
  • Submit files in the following formats: .3dm
  • Units must use inches and match machine table size

These machines may be operated only by trained personnel and used solely for academic projects. Unauthorized use will result in suspension of privileges. You may not submit files to the machines until you have read and agreed to all notices and safety guidelines.
