Message from the Program Director

Michael Hadjiargyrou

Dear prospective students,

Welcome and thank you for your interest in New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine’s combined D.O./Ph.D. program!

Currently, there is a clear and present need to develop well-trained osteopathic physician-scientists who will advance the evidence base for both osteopathic and general medicine. The goal of our program is to address this shortage of osteopathic physician-scientists through a comprehensive curriculum that integrates medicine and the life sciences, delivered through a mix of medical school and graduate school courses combined with in-depth research experiences.

In short, we want to train the next generation of osteopathic physician-scientists.

Members of our faculty are involved in many areas of scholarly research, including cancer, neuroscience, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, diabetes, bioinformatics, genomics, biomechanics, evolutionary biology, cell signaling and communication, and vascular calcification. As such, there are many opportunities for our students to perform excellent research and complete the Ph.D. phase of their combined program.

I encourage you to navigate our website to find more in-depth information on requirements for admission, the curriculum, our current students, the program faculty and their research projects, and our core facilities.

Lastly, if you have any questions regarding any aspect of the program, feel free to get in touch with me. Thank you!
