New York Tech is the only school of architecture and design on Long Island and the only one in the New York City area with fully accredited programs in both architecture and interior design. Our Architectural Technology, B.S. curriculum encompasses architectural design, building technology, environmental systems, and project management using advanced software and tools. You can also opt to further tailor your degree by pursuing a concentration in construction management.
Gain the critical experience you’ll need to stand out to employers through national and international design workshops, collaborative projects within the community, on-site construction observation, and summer study abroad in canonical cities around the world.
During your first two years, you will study the foundations of architectural history and building construction while developing expertise in design analysis, drafting, and 3-D design skills. During your third and fourth years, you will work intensively toward the completion of a capstone project incorporating all aspects of a building’s design and architectural technology.
If you’re interested in even greater career preparation, the School of Architecture and Design offers an accelerated path to the Master of Architecture professional degree for undergraduate students who wish to begin their graduate work during the final two years of study for the B.S.

What You’ll Learn
In our studio-based, four-year architectural technology program, you can direct your focus toward advanced Building Information Modeling or Construction Management, aligning your studies, practice, and immediate career goals. Upon completion of your B.S., you could qualify for licensure as an architect in New York state.
Customize Your Studies
Construction Management Concentration
Accelerate your career in the construction industry and become a sought-after employee with increased specialization and technological knowledge in the built environment by adding a concentration in construction management to your degree.
Accelerated B.S. to M.Arch. Program
Start taking graduate-level courses leading to a Master of Architecture (Track II) professional degree during the final two years of your undergraduate degree program. If approved for this track, you’ll begin taking graduate-level coursework during your junior or senior year to complete both degrees in five years.
Summer Abroad Programs
Acquire a broad, global perspective of the role of architecture and related technologies. Whether in New York or overseas, you’ll learn from architects, designers, and industry professionals while observing various built environments.
Prototyping & Design Facilities
You’ll have access to advanced tools for fleshing out and testing your digital and real-world concepts, including motion capture, 3-D scanning and printing, VR and AR hardware, computer-controlled laser cutters, CNC routers, and traditional woodshop machines.
Design Workshops
Through workshops and collaborative experiences, students from across the School of Architecture and Design use their knowledge to actively assist communities in need due to ecological, social, or economic factors.
Architecture, B.Arch.
Upon completing year two of your B.S. degree, you can apply for acceptance into the third year of our fully accredited five-year professional B.Arch. program.

All applicants must provide the following materials:
- Completed Common Application or New York Tech online application
- $50 nonrefundable application fee
- Copies of transcripts of all high school work, including college-level courses.
- Testing Preferences: First-time, first-year applicants may choose to submit their application without standardized test scores to be considered for admission to New York Institute of Technology.
- Two letters of recommendation
- 300–350 word essay
New York Tech offers scholarships based on your academic achievements and potential. Most awards are renewable if you continue to meet eligibility requirements, making a significant difference in your total cost of attendance.
International F-1 students who successfully complete this degree program are eligible for an additional 24-month STEM OPT extension to work in the U.S. in an area directly related to their area of study immediately upon completing the customary 12-month post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT).
