Physical Therapy, D.P.T.

The B.S.-to-D.P.T. program consists of three years of pre-professional coursework and a three-year professional phase. To progress from the first segment to the second, you must submit an application and meet certain requirements, including having a 3.2 overall GPA and 100 hours of experience annually under the direct supervision of a physical therapist.
The Life Sciences, B.S. degree will be conferred upon successful completion of the first professional year in the Physical Therapy, D.P.T. program.
Students interested in the B.S.-to-D.P.T. program undergo a two-part application process.
First, you’ll fulfill the initial requirements to enter the program as an incoming undergraduate.
Then, as you progress through the course sequence, you’ll apply for admission to the second, professional stage. Decisions are based on course grades for your prerequisites, cumulative GPA, as well as successful completion of paid or volunteer experience under the direct supervision of a physical therapist.
The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association, the only accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Learn more about program accreditation.

Most awards are renewable if you continue to meet eligibility requirements, making a significant difference in your total cost of attendance. Physical therapy students are also eligible to apply to the targeted Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy Scholarship Program offered through New York City’s Teach NYC program.
