Gain hands-on experience during a year immersed in clinical rotations, gaining actionable experience in well-rounded, challenging, and diverse clinical environments that prepare you for real-world challenges. Rotation spots include outstanding hospital systems and private practices in New York City and Long Island, with flexibility for out-of-state/home-state options. 

You’ll also have opportunities to participate in service-learning initiatives, both domestically and abroad. Past students have traveled to Ghana, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Nicaragua, and El Salvador through the New York Tech Center for Global Health.  

Upon graduation, you’ll be eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certification Exam (PANCE) and will be prepared to work clinically as a new PA graduate, equipped with sought-after ultrasound skills.

What You’ll Learn

First, study how living organisms function, survive, adapt, and evolve, and work alongside professors on active research projects in areas including biochemistry, physics, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. Then, apply for the Physician Assistant Studies, M.S. program to build a strong foundation in science, medicine, research, and transcultural patient care.

Program Details

The Life Sciences, B.S./Physician Assistant Studies, M.S. program includes three years of undergraduate coursework and three years of graduate studies. To advance to the master’s program, you must submit an application and meet certain requirements, including having a 3.0 overall GPA and at least 250 hours of verifiable direct patient healthcare experience.  

The Life Sciences, B.S. degree will be conferred upon successful completion of the first year in the Physician Assistant Studies, M.S. program.

Students interested in the B.S.-to-M.S. Physician Assistant Studies program will undergo a two-part application process.

First, you’ll need to fulfill the initial requirements to enter the program as an incoming undergraduate, including:

  • Minimum combined SAT score of 1170 (critical reading and math only) or ACT score of 24
  • Minimum high school average of 90
  • 50 hours of verifiable patient contact experience

Then, as you progress through the course sequence, you’ll apply for admission to the second, professional stage. Decisions are based on course grades for your prerequisites.

The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistance (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the New York Institute of Technology Physician Assistant Program sponsored by the New York Institute of Technology. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. 

New York Tech offers several scholarships recognizing your academic achievements and potential. Most awards are renewable if you continue to meet eligibility requirements, making a significant difference in your total cost of attendance. Physical therapy students are also eligible to apply to the targeted Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy Scholarship Program offered through New York City’s Teach NYC program.
