After three years of undergraduate studies, students who have established a record of academic excellence may apply to transition into our graduate school counseling program. Our CACREP-accredited M.S. in School Counseling is nationally recognized for the quality of its faculty and the preparation of its graduates to meet criteria for provisional certification as a school counselor in New York State.
You’ll gain a broad foundation on prevalent topics in school counseling today, including leadership, group counseling, working with special needs students, college counseling, and school violence prevention. You’ll also acquire the critical experience you need through a practicum and internships under the mentorship of a tenured school counselor in a pre-K–12 school setting.

Program Details

The combined program will enable you to achieve B.S. and M.S. degrees in five years. You will matriculate from an undergraduate major to a graduate candidate after your third year. After completing the program, you will be prepared to apply for a provisional certificate in School Counseling.
This degree follows our general admission requirements for the undergraduate portion of the degree.

- $50 application fee
- Copies of transcripts for all prior high school- and college-level work
- Two letters of recommendation
- Brief essay
You may also submit standardized test scores, but they are not required.
Transition to the M.S. Program:
After completing the undergraduate portion of the degree in three years, you may be admitted directly into the M.S. program provided you meet the following standards and requirements.
New York Tech offers several scholarships recognizing your academic achievements and potential. Most awards are renewable if you continue to meet eligibility requirements, making a significant difference in your total cost of attendance.
The school counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
