Student Research Opportunity Center (SROC)
The Student Research Opportunity Center (SROC) is a clearinghouse for posting opportunities for New York Tech undergraduate and graduate students to engage in scholarly research and to work with faculty on research and grant projects.
Students
By participating in these projects, students will gain knowledge and hands-on research experience to support their career goals, while participating in research that will benefit the community, society, and the world. Students may also be eligible for compensation for their work through student aid or work-study funds, or they can volunteer through our Consultants for Public Good.

Faculty: Posting SROC Positions to Handshake
The SROC provides faculty with the opportunity to further connect with their students and give them insight and guidance within their research programs, while receiving vital research assistant support.
- Go to https://app.joinhandshake.com/login and login as an Employer or sign up as an Employer for New York Tech – On-Campus Student Employment.
- Start your job title with SROC.
- Federal Work-Study – Choose On-Campus Student Employment AND Work-Study Program.
- Student Aid – Choose On-Campus Student Employment.
- Volunteer – Choose Other, then Volunteer from the menu.
- These include location, time requirements, compensation, qualifications, and application instructions.
- Choose University Student Researchers and applicable discipline(s).
- Choose Post to specific schools, then New York Institute of Technology.
- Under Division start typing and select Student Research Opportunity Center.
- Your job will go to Pending status and CSEE will review and post.
- It will be labeled “Student Research Opportunity Center.”
- Students will find positions with that label and apply.
