Review of admission applications is the responsibility of New York Tech Graduate Admissions Staff, the M.Arch. Faculty Admissions Committee and the M.Arch Director.
Review Process:
- Admissions Staff reviews each application for completion. Complete applications are forwarded to the Graduate Staff Specialist and greenlighted for departmental review.
- The M.Arch Director or Graduate Staff Specialist review incoming transcripts for pre-requisites. Qualifying courses are highlighted on the student’s transcripts. Missing prerequisites are flagged.
- For applicants to the 2-year track, transcripts are also reviewed for prior coursework in comparison with New York Tech ’s B.S.AT pre-professional degree and for pre-requisites relating to NAAB Student Criteria. Otherwise eligible applicants who have not successfully completed substantially equivalent courses may be listed as having unfulfilled pre-requisites and will be so notified in their response letters from New York Tech.
- The Faculty Admissions Committee reviews complete application materials and makes recommendations to admit, admit with conditions, waitlist, or not admit. Transcripts, English Language Proficiency scores (if applicable), letters of intent, letters of recommendation, and digital portfolios are evaluated for each applicant.
- Final decisions are made by the Director and students are notified of their admission status. Merit-worthy applications are identified and considered for merit-based incentive scholarship awards.
- Final official transcripts and diplomas are verified prior to registration.
Our Admissions Staff and the Program Director periodically update course equivalents from other institutions as a guide for determining comparable coursework. Determining comparable coursework is based on a comparison of online course descriptions and a review of student outcomes from portfolio materials.
