Pair your major with a series of courses that examine the history of healthcare and the cultural forces that impact this profession. Our Medical Humanities minor advances your knowledge of biology, medicine, and healthcare with related classes in history, psychology, literature, and ethics.
Why Minor in Medical Humanities?
Our Medical Humanities minor is a great way to diversify your education and boost your professional appeal to healthcare employers. It also provides a key differentiator if you are considering graduate and postgraduate degrees in healthcare or medicine.
In this 15-credit program, you’ll discover that the foundation of healthcare is about human contact: empathy, communication, observation, and analysis. You’ll promote your cultural competency and enhance your ability to communicate with patients.
You’ll also examine:
- issues of personhood as they pertain to healthcare
- disabilities and illness, including their emotional and psychological impact
- the history and social context of medical practice across literature, philosophy, ethics, anthropology, psychology, and sociology
