Whether you’re pursuing a STEAM career or studying in a related area, our flexible 15–18-credit Physics minor will help you develop and learn how to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Why Minor in Physics?
The boundary of knowledge in STEAM areas has been blurred. Adding a minor to your undergraduate degree will better prepare you for problem-solving and critical analysis and help you start your career with a broader set of tools.
Our Physics minor is suitable not only for students pursuing a STEAM career but is also useful for strengthening the skills of those studying other related majors.
Expand the breadth of your interests while demonstrating broad competence beyond a narrow specialization:
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex physical phenomena using the course material of the introductory physics courses.
- Model physical systems using mathematical and computational tools and demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills to present your ideas and findings to both peers and the general public.
- Read and draft scientific papers in advanced courses.
- Gain laboratory skills, including the use of common instruments, experimental design, and data analysis.
