Message From the Chair: Department of Nursing

Thank you for your interest in New York Tech’s nursing program.

Lisa Sparacino

Nursing is regarded as one of the “most trusted” professions in the county. We believe that a career in nursing requires a lifelong commitment to learning and an obligation to care for a diverse population of patients, including the most vulnerable in our society.

We are proud that our program has a 10-year reaccreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Our graduates are highly sought out by Healthcare facilities throughout the tri-state area and Long Island for employment as entry-level Registered Nurses.

Our program is designed to test your stamina and endurance while giving you the skills and confidence necessary to effectively handle the daily life-and-death situations you will face in your professional career. We are committed to providing you with optimal classrooms, nursing arts and simulation labs, and clinical site experiences. As you partner with our expert faculty, you will learn how to apply the bio/psycho/social principles studied in your transcultural nursing coursework to real-world clinical practice.

We ask that you make a commitment—to yourself and to your teachers and patients—to diligently study and synthesize all aspects of your New York Tech coursework, to strive to achieve excellence in the nursing arts by practicing in our simulation labs, and to use patient encounters to develop your critical analysis, thereby enabling you to provide efficient, evidenced-based nursing care that will assist your patients in retaining, attaining, or maintaining optimal health.

The Department of Nursing faculty welcomes you and applauds your commitment and dedication to yourself and the nursing profession. We strive to educate and guide you toward achieving your goal of becoming a New York Tech graduate and a Registered Nurse!
