We, at the Student Veterans Organization (SVO) of the New York Institute of Technology, strive to provide a comprehensive platform for our veteran students, catering to their unique academic and co-curricular requirements. The SVO, a fraternity of veterans, is your home for veteran-centric services and support on campus.

Our Mission

At the New York Tech SVO, we are committed to:

  • Guiding you to relevant New York Tech and community resources, and developing new services tailored to your needs.

SALUTE

The SALUTE honor society, formed in 2009, is the first national academic honor society established for veteran and active military students. Each chapter symbolizes not only the collective achievement of veterans bettering themselves through the pursuit of knowledge but also our commitment as a group to honor those among us who are the tip of the spear across the nation.

  • Formal recognition for service and academics, including distinguishable SALUTE honor cords and stole for graduation

Eligibility

All undergraduate students selected for induction to SALUTE must meet the following criteria:

  • Qualify as a military/veteran student and submit a DD-214 Member 4 copy that displays the character of service (honorable discharge). Applicants currently serving on active duty or in the Guard or Reserves must submit a copy of orders for their current duty assignment.
  • Undergraduate students must be currently enrolled as a student with a minimum of 12 course credits
    • Undergraduate GPA tiers:
      • Alpha Tier GPA: 3.75 – 4.00
      • Bravo Tier GPA: 3.50 – 3.74
      • Charlie Tier GPA: 3.25 – 3.49
      • Delta Tier GPA: 3.00 – 3.24

All Graduate Students need to have completed 9 credit hours, hold at least a 3.5 GPA, and will be classified as “SALUTE Gold Member.”
