Exercise & Sport Science, M.S.

What You’ll Learn

As you journey towards your M.S. in Exercise and Sport Science, you'll learn how to blend advanced theoretical knowledge with practical competence to develop expertise in physiology, coaching administration, and applied research in the field. You will learn the ins and outs of ethical considerations and regulatory compliance, ensuring that you will meet or exceed the highest standards in fitness, sports, and the well-being and safety of athletes and clients.

The program's interdisciplinary nature, involving collaboration with New York Tech's other colleges and schools, offers you a comprehensive understanding of the field, opening opportunities for joint research projects and cross-departmental electives.

You'll have the option to delve into one or two concentrations, in Kinesiology, for those focusing on the scientific aspects of human performance; in Coaching Administration, for those aiming for roles in sports management and coaching; or in both, depending on your interests and career goals.

Upon graduating with this master's in exercise science degree, you will have the skills to enhance athletic performance, promote health, and communicate effectively. You will be poised to make meaningful contributions to the dynamic field of exercise and sport science, whether you choose to specialize in kinesiology, coaching administration, or both.

Your knowledge of biomechanics, physiology, fitness testing, sports management leadership, and psychology, will make you an excellent candidate for a wide range of work in the athletic sector, including clinical exercise physiology, athletic training, sport science research, sports coaching, team management, and athletic administration.

International F-1 students who successfully complete this degree are eligible for an additional 24-month STEM OPT extension to work in the U.S. in an area directly related to their area of study immediately upon completing the customary 12-month post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT).
