Join us at the inaugural NYITCOM-Arkansas Health Conference, where healthcare leaders, practitioners, and educators will converge to explore the challenges and opportunities in addressing the healthcare needs of Arkansas and the Mississippi Delta. Tailored for professionals serving in rural hospitals, healthcare systems, clinics, and communities, our conference will delve into critical topics shaping the landscape of healthcare, from geographic barriers to gaps in infrastructure to practitioner recruitment and retention.

About this Event

The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University is committed to bringing world-class medical education and leadership to Arkansas and the Mississippi Delta region.

For our first in a series of academic and clinical regional conferences, we are thrilled to have both regional experts and nationally recognized speakers who bring a wealth of expertise to the forefront of health. Here are a few of our program highlights:

  • Maternal health and outcomes discrepancies and the criticality of obstetric professionals in the rural environment.
  • The expansion of Federally Qualified Health Centers in delivering healthcare to rural communities.
  • New frontiers in artificial intelligence, and how technology will foster remote health solutions.

  • Advanced practice nursing and their role with physicians to fill the provider gap.
  • Creating change through policy from the Arkansas Community Health Initiative (ACHI).

Keynote Speaker

  • J. Craig Wilson, J.D., M.P.A., director of health policy, Arkansas Center for Health Initiatives (ACHI), a respected expert esteemed for his policy efforts to enhance healthcare delivery throughout Arkansas

Featured Speakers

  • Paul Thurman, D.B.A., senior professor at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University Medical Center and an international expert on rural health
  • Calvin Lambert, M.D., board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Mount Sinai Hospital and assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a renowned expert on maternal health and safety.
  • Lorraine Frazier, Ph.D., RN, FAHA, FAAN, Dean of the Columbia University School of Nursing and an esteemed expert in advanced practice nursing

The conference begins on Thursday, September 5, at 3:30 p.m. (CT) and concludes on Saturday, September 7, at 1:30 p.m. (CT). In addition to our esteemed speakers, we are delighted to announce an educational and social event hosted at the Clinton Presidential Center as part of our conference agenda.

Educational Credits: New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide continuing medical education to physicians. The AOA designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.5 AOA Category 1-A Credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity. This program qualifies for AOA Category 1-A credit under an exemption approved by the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the American Osteopathic Association.

Registration fees

  • $450 — general attendee.
  • $250 — NYITCOM-affiliated faculty, preceptors, alumni, and staff.
  • $50 — medical residents and health professions students.

The registration fee is non-refundable after June 5, unless the conference is canceled. Each person registering should complete an individual registration form. To register, please click the Register button below and complete the form. Space is limited.

Registration includes access to all educational lectures, welcome reception, two breakfasts, two lunches, and a private dinner and tour at the Clinton Presidential Center.

Your registration fee includes a private dinner and tour at the Clinton Presidential Library on September 6.

Hotel Reservations

After you have registered for the conference, you will receive a confirmation email containing instructions on how to obtain the discounted hotel rate. Hotel rates are available until August 5 or when the group block is sold out.
