Photography Exhibition: Spaces and Places

The selected works represent one of the landing points of the artist’s stylistic journey from street photography to the graphic representation of the urban landscape.

In her research on the interaction between man and the environment, her interest focuses mainly on architecture. Like photography, it is considered a visual art form in its own right, and has always fascinated her.

Ancient buildings, modern constructions, empty or intensely lived-in spaces, they all become either the background or protagonists of their images. Perspectives, lines and the play of light and shadow create complex, clean and rigorous geometries, sometimes rarefied, that are near abstract, minimalist atmospheres. Enhanced by the use of black and white.

“Spaces and places” that are known and recognizable, of which man is an integral part. At the same time, man is a creator, and to which the artist gives a new visual spatial dimension, through her personal interpretation.

Miriam Nicastro

Miriam Nicastro

International Award Winning Italian Artist and Photographer

Her photographic journey began self-taught, in the 1990s during her university studies in Catania; inspired by her one-year course for Black and White Photographic Operator, darkroom development and printing.

After successfully graduating in Humanities, she moved to Milan and attended the International Academy of Photography John Kaverdash School; expanding and diversifying her skills in various photographic genres.

Photography became the ideal form of expression of her creativity and she devoted herself to it. Her style developed through the integration of analog and digital techniques while maintaining a predilection for the use of mechanical cameras and film. Allowing her to reflect on her deep connection to the tradition of the School of the Great Photographers of the Twentieth Century.

Her works have been shown in several exhibitions and have received numerous awards and prizes in major international competitions.
