In this Dean’s Digital Café, Professor Michael Izady of the Department of Humanities describes the idea and history of U.S. citizenship, from the 14th Amendment to various Supreme Court cases treating the topic. The process of applying for and obtaining citizenship is reviewed, and the current controversy over the birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants is discussed.
