Teacher Certification

New York Tech facilitates your pathway to certification, which is required in New York State for all teachers, administrators, school counselors, psychologists, and more.

DASA Workshops 

Applicants for a New York State teacher certification are required to complete six hours of training supporting the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), which seeks to provide public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment.

Building Leadership for Teachers

New York Tech’s “Building Leadership for Teachers” (BLT) online micro-credential program provides K-12 educators with a new, flexible, and less time-intensive approach to professional development.

Students in fall 2024’s Data 101 class sections partnered with CommuterLink to study student commuting habits across the Long Island and New York City campuses and propose potential solutions to challenges.

Accreditation 

The education programs at New York Institute of Technology are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs (Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, and M.A.T.). CAEP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel. 

In addition, we have received national recognition from the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) for our Master of Science in Childhood Education.
