Why Earn a Bachelor’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering at New York Tech?

Today’s engineering students must understand both hardware and software used in controls, signal processing, integrated circuits, communication networks, wireless communication, and computer operating systems.  

New York Tech’s Electrical and Computer Engineering program addresses this need through courses in liberal arts, humanities, science, mathematics, computer science, and electrical engineering with an increasing emphasis on design. The use of modern engineering tools and computers is integrated into nearly all engineering courses. 

The program also offers a balance of theoretical fundamentals and hands-on experiences in a small-class setting—most courses have fewer than 20 students.

One of only four accredited electrical and computer engineering programs in New York State, our Electrical and Computer Engineering, B.S. program helps you learn various tools to simulate electrical/electronic circuits, program microprocessors/embedded systems/FPGAs, model and implement control/communication systems, and process data/signals/systems.

  • Copies of transcripts for all prior high school- and college-level work

  • A brief essay on an assigned topic 

In addition to these general requirements, this degree also has specific academic requirements for admission.

This National Science Foundation-backed scholarship program extends funding to incoming students intending to major in computer science or electrical and computer engineering. Recipients receive four years of financial and academic support, including faculty mentorship and access to high-impact instruction, engineering design projects, internships, and hackathons. 

The Electrical and Computer Engineering, B.S. program on the Long Island and New York City campuses is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and similarly named engineering programs. 

International F-1 students who successfully complete this degree program are eligible for an additional 24-month STEM OPT extension to work in the U.S. in an area directly related to their area of study immediately upon completing the customary 12-month post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT)
