Faculty Research
New York Tech College of Engineering and Computing Sciences houses faculty members who are expert creative inventors and the entrepreneurial masterminds behind numerous commercial enterprises. Whether solving complex engineering problems or developing cutting-edge technologies, they are the driving force behind our research incubator, comprising a wide range of interdisciplinary initiatives.
Specialities
Bioengineering
Bioengineering combines engineering and applied sciences, applying engineering principles of design and analytics to biological systems and biomedical technologies to provide accessible, tangible, and economically viable products, including assistive medical devices and technology.
Cybersecurity
Ongoing, high-profile hack attacks have highlighted the critical need for cybersecurity experts and the vulnerability of our personal and business data. New York Tech has been advancing the field of cybersecurity for almost two decades, fostering technological innovation and promoting partnerships among industry leaders, academia, and government.
Advanced Materials & Enabled Technologies
Research faculty members focus on devising breakthrough discoveries in biodegradability, biocompatibility, energy efficiency, self-repairing, polymers, advanced materials, nanotechnology, fabrication, laser printing, and nanoscale sensors. These enabled technologies have paved the way for novel, multifunctional integrated sensor systems with unlimited market potential.
Aero Propulsions, Mechatronics & Mechanics
Mechanical engineering faculty members are actively involved in fundamental research on concepts and designs using modern applications built on a foundation of physical science, mathematics, computing, and technology. Focus areas include designing and developing mechanical systems, structures, thermo-fluid systems, aero propulsion, mechatronics, mechanics, advanced transportation, and energy systems.
Urban Infrastructure: Smart Cities & Sustainability
We are committed to addressing the myriad issues associated with the expansion of urban cities. According to the United Nations, approximately 55 percent of the world’s population lives in urban areas or cities, a figure expected to rise to 68 percent over the coming decades. This growth will require the successful management of biodiversity and ecosystem services to ensure a resilient and sustainable future.
Wireless Communications
Our faculty members study various wireless technologies addressing all aspects of receiving and transmitting information over the wireless spectrum. Areas of research include the advanced design of circuits and subsystems from RF through Microwave to Millimeter-wave frequencies for 4G and 5G wireless communications and biomedical applications.
Student Opportunities
Work on research or entrepreneurship projects in a group setting, under the guidance of faculty mentors. Our Undergraduate Research and Entrepreneurship Program (UREP), provides each research team with $500 to cover the cost of supply and materials.
Research Centers
Center for Facility & Infrastructure Systems
The Center for Facility and Infrastructure Systems (CFIS) provides technical assistance and professional development to facilities managers and executives while providing students with opportunities to collaborate with working professionals on a variety of hands-on projects and research.
Entrepreneurship & Technology Innovation Center
The Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC) is New York Tech’s hub for fostering discovery, cultivating new businesses and products, and trailblazing fresh ideas in technology, engineering, and applied science.
